“It Feels Like Home”
The Global Methodist Church of Pensacola held its first worship service this past Sunday, January 7th . Many friends and fellow believers came to this historic occasion. The only way I can describe the spirit in the room and among the people is that only God could do something like that! There was laughter…singing…praying…lifting up God’s Holy Word…and proclaiming the reality that God is doing a new thing in His church.
As we shared Holy Communion, there were smiles…and tears…and a powerful sense that the Holy Spirit was moving among us. To tell you truth, for me it was deeply emotional for lots of reasons. I was thinking about all that God has seen us through. I was thinking about how humbling it is to
serve such wonderful people. The image of my father, mother, and other faithful members of my family, who are now in God’s nearer presence, kept coming to
mind. It was overwhelming to try and grasp how truly historic this day was. We are stepping out in faith, trusting God to use us as He gives birth to His church.
I keep trying to find the right words…words to describe the day…the worship…the spirit of the people, ignited by the Spirit of God…and I cannot. However, it was
best summed up by a phrase I kept hearing over and over… “It feels like I’m home.”
That’s it! That’s what it is! It feels like home. It feels like we’ve come to a place we’ve been seeking for a long time….and it feels like home. That’s truly the best
way to describe what the Global Methodist Church of Pensacola wants to be…we want every single person who comes through our doors to feel like they’re home.
Maybe you know someone who needs to feel like they’ve found a home. Maybe you know someone who just wants to feel like they matter…bring them to church
with you. I tell you; God wants to do a new thing with us.
We will worship this Sunday at 10:30, at the Vickery Center, located at 2130 Summit Blvd. See you this Sunday in the “home” place.
Blessings – Pastor Bobby
